Justin Bieber Makes Promise in Pencil

Nisa provided the delicious hors d’ouevres for the Meet and Greet VIP reception honoring Justin Bieber and his work, part of the Pencils of Promise 1st Annual Gala in NYC.  Usher, Shaquille O’Neil, Sophia Bush, Robert Deniro and of course Justin Bieber were in attendance to support PoP, one of the fastest growing non-profit organizations in the country and whose mission is to build schools in developing countries.  Founder Adam Braun set out determined to build one school with an initial donation of just $25 and has since built 40 schools with plans for many more. 

The Gala raised over $1 million that evening with creative live auction ideas like pick-up basketball games with Shaq, Justin and Usher at the big man’s house in Los Angeles which was the hit of the night.  Usher (above left) is the Honoree of this year’s fundraising campaign.

Marrying “Ugly”

On June 28th, Nisa catered the wedding of one of the stars of  “Ugly Betty.  The wedding and reception were held at co-star Vanessa Williams’ home in Westchester with many stars in attendance including co-star Judith Light, actresses Blake Lively and Rebecca Romjin to name a few. Nisa provided all of the culinary delights, as well as the design and creation of décor for the big day. Nisa tailored the cuisine to match the couple’s request for “local and fresh summertime country wedding fare spiced with exotic touches” said Nisa.

Nisa  created the menu including a Chorizo Sausage softened with garden basil with lavender honey drizzle which was served with a salad of local garden greens, jicama with Champagne, mango and lime dressing, followed by a traditional favorite, corn on the cob given a spicy twist with cilantro lime butter washed down with some Shiner Bock, the groom’s favorite Texas beer.  As a further tribute to the couples Latin and Texas “South of the Border” backgrounds, handmade Mexican fruit popsicles were served to help cool guests down from the heat.   “I think it was a really beautiful, passionate wedding in a comfortable relaxed setting” said Nisa.

Halle Berry Perfume Launch

Something Smells Delicious

Nisa helped plan a product launch reception for Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry.  The new fragrance called “Halle” is inspired by Ms. Berry’s contemporary femininity and natural beauty.  Ms. Berry partnered with Coty Inc., (Coty.com) the world’s largest fragrance company, to create her first signature fragrance.

The new scent, is a modern and sensuous “woody oriental” fragrance that captures the spirit of a woman who is effortlessly sexy, stylish and elegant.  Ms. Berry looked absolutely stunning in a beautiful cocoa colored silk dress (right).  Nisa and her staff were delighted to work with the fashion and cinema  icon and said “Ms. Berry’s extraordinary beauty was equaled by her graciousness and kindness throughout the day.”

Nisa teamed with fashion and lifestyle event production veteran Pam Bristow (TheClassTrip.com) to create this beautiful event which was held at 632 Hudson, a breathtaking venue located in Chelsea (632onHudson.com).  Nisa created a menu especially for Ms. Berry, incorporating some her favorite ingredients and textures such as fresh island figs and hibiscus.  A sensual and alluring décor was created for the party paralleling many of the elements and concepts from the new fragrance.

Guests, including senior editors from top magazines, were greeted by a butler ushering a choice of a Mimosa Cleansing Tonic or Hibiscus Balancing Tonic which Nisa created for Ms. Berry’s introduction.  The menu consisted of Organic Crisp Greens with Fresh Island Figs and Blossom Dressing in Amber, Coastal Mango Glazed Grilled Organic Chicken served on wooden skewers from the South Pacific was a hit, as were the Swahili Tiger Prawns with Coriander and Coconut, and Gingered Buckwheat Soba Noodles with farm fresh vegetables.  For dessert – Caribbean Spiced Apple Crisp with hand-crafted Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream.
